Our Story
Makeeba is an African name meaning a person who is unselfish and understanding, someone who may get lost in the darkness, only enough to bring in the light. Makeeba is someone who has the ability to soothe and calm a person in distress, someone who deserves the best. Makeeba is a unique name for and incredibly special person.
In an attempt to build a brand that speaks for itself, we decided on Makeeba Care to be a special, trusted, excellent and fantastic brand as its literal meaning depicts. We believe that skincare products must have the right oils, natural butter and ingredients that heal and protect the skin – a luxury skincare solution that offers aromatherapy making you feel confident.
Makeeba was born out of the need of solving a fundamental problem in my home. My daughter had a sensitive, irritated skin, which was as well acne prone. We had visited Dermatologist on several occasions with diverse prescriptions at a time which we tried to no avail. Finally, I grasped the need to consider a more natural method for helping my daughter. I conducted some research, and did several patch treatments, where I arrived at the solution that suited my daughter’s need.
Fast forward, I obtained a series of training on skincare and the science behind it, as well as the chemistrybehind the formulations. Through the training, I realized I could transform this new hobby into a business that will change lives, hence the brand, Makeeba Care.
The Mission
At the heart of Makeeba is the quest to create a market for products produced by women in rural communities in Ghana. Most of these women have little to no education, and the knowledge of processing Shea Butter and other raw materials were passed on from time immemorial.
We, at Makeeba Care. partner with these women to ensure a ready market offering, as well as fair pricing on these raw materials. By helping them make a living, we hope to improve their socio economic lives through manufacturing and industry.
